The Weeks of 12/8-12/19

  • Mon 12/8:  Some notes on photosynthesis.  Work on coloring worksheet.
  • Tues 12/9:  Chromatography Lab with spinach.  Complete hand-out and turn in.  Some notes on photosynthesis.
  • Thurs 12/11:  Finish notes on photosynthesis.  Complete back of coloring worksheet and get checked off.  Hand-out 9+10 Review for test next Thurs 12/18.  Work on review and do computer simulations for photosynthesis.  Read the chapters this week-end!!
  • Mon 12/15:  Questions on 9+10 Review?  Questions on Metabolic Rate Lab?  Start mitosis.  SPARK Lecture today on waves!
  • Tues 12/16:  Jeopardy Review for 9+10 Test.
  • Thurs 12/18:  Turn in 9+10 review BEFORE test.  Take test.  Work on Mitosis worksheet.
  • Remember to turn in a hard copy of your Metabolic Rate Lab as well as turning it in through turnitin.com before 3:30 pm on Fri 12/19!!!
Have a wonderful winter break!

Metabolic Rate Lab Parts for lab due before Winter Break!

  • Background Info:  your background for your question.  Do not repeat the background I listed for the procedure of the lab.
  • Focused Question (says what you're doing, identifies variables)
  • Variables identified (manipulated, responding, controlled-at least 5)
  • Procedure: includes how variables are controlled, number of trials, and enough detail to follow
  • Data:  organized, labelled, must calculate uncertainty and averages.  You get to pick the data you use from the class databases, but put it in your own data table format.
  • Data Processing:  calculations (show 1 sample of each type), t-tests or correlations or both, graphs (avoid bar graphs, include uncertainty bars)
  • Conclusion (typically 3 paragraphs), explain/discuss results using data from the investigation, discuss sources of error/uncertainty, suggest specific improvements for the sources of error/uncertainty that you mentioned

The Week of 12/1-12/5

  • Mon 12/1:  Brief notes on glycolysis and the link reaction.  Finish Cell Respiration worksheet and get it checked off (tomorrow ok too for getting it checked off).  SPARK lecture on the marbled murrelet.  Read Chapter 9.
  • Tues 12/2:  Finish checking off Cell Respiration Worksheet.  Notes on the Krebs (Citric Acid) Cycle and the Electron Transport Chain.  Introduce Metabolic Rate Lab and do trials to practice the protocol.  Read Chapter 9.
  • Thurs 12/4:  Take data for the Metabolic Rate Lab and enter data into class database.  Discuss lab write up, due before Winter Break through turnitin.com.  Review oxidative phosphorylation and the electron transport chain.  Read Chapter 9.
