Welcome back from Spring Break!  Your final stretch of high school approaches!  We will do our 2nd Option of Neurobiology and Behavior, followed by miscellaneous topics, review, and a 3-part practice exam by the beginning of May, when IB Exams start.

• Mon 3/31:  Stimulus and response.  Reflex arcs.  Start on Sensory receptors.
• Wed 4/2:  More on sensory receptors.  The Human Ear.  Start on the Human Eye.  Questions on Cell Resp or Photosynthesis for Friday's quiz?
• Fri 4/4:  Quiz on Photosynthesis and Cell Respiration.  Dissect cow's eyes.  

The Week of 3/17-3/21

• Mon 3/17:  No Cell Resp and Photosynthesis quiz today or this week!  We will start reviewing these important topics this week, but it doesn't seem to make sense to quiz until we have reviewed some.  Last day for checking off Reproduction Coloring.  Function of the placenta, early development, and birth.  Reproduction Quiz/Short Test on Friday.  Mr. Minato is doing a SPARK lecture today at 3:30!
• Wed 3/19:  Review the Reproduction System and review photo and cell respiration.  
• Fri 3/21:  Quiz/Short Test on Reproduction.  Review instructions for Spring Break.

The Weeks of 3/3-3/14

• Mon 3/3:  Go over Resting Potential/Action Potential and Synaptic Transmission.  Work on Nerves and Hormones Worksheet.  Read parts of Ch 40, 45, and 48.
• Wed 3/5:  Get Nerves and Hormones WS checked off.  Homeostasis and Hormones.  Insulin and Glucagon.  Type I and Type II Diabetes.  Review topics for Cellular Respiration and Photosynthesis.
• Fri 3/7:  Nerves and Hormones Quiz.  Start Human Reproduction.  Roles of hormones in the menstrual cycle!!
• Mon 3/10:   Draw and label diagrams of the male and female reproductive systems.  What fun for a Monday!  Start introducing in vitro fertilization (IVF).
• Wed 3/12:  Finish IVF and discuss ethical issues.   Spermatogenesis and oogenesis.  Drawing a mature sperm and a mature egg.  .
• Fri 3/14:      More on spermatogenesis and oogenesis.  Fertilization.  The role of HCG in early pregnancy.  Photosynthesis and Cell Respiration Quiz on Monday 3/17.  Human Reproduction Short Test next Friday 3/21.
