The Week of 10/27-10/29


  • Mon 10/27:  Paramecia digesting yeast lab!  Watch what happens to the food vacuoles in a paramecium as they change pH!  Turn in Microscope Lab if not already.
  • Tues 10/28:  Start membranes.  What are the parts of a membrane?  Bubble Lab.  Examine the properties of membranes by working with bubbles.
Enjoy your long week-end!  There is a SPARK Lecture on Monday 11/3.

The Week of 10/20-10/24


  • Mon 10/20:  Microscope lab:  drawing cells and calculating magnification.
  • Tues 10/21:  More drawing cells!  Looking at bacteria through oil immersion lenses.  Cell Model Project due Thursday (includes the 3-D model and the written report).
  • Thurs 10/23:  Set up Cell Models on the tables and do a walk-around evaluation of the models. Oil Immersion Lenses and Bacteria.  Finish Microscope Lab and turn in.

The Week of 10/13-10/17


  • Mon 10/13:  Turn in Food Lab.  Go to book room to get text books!  Questions for Biochem Test tomorrow?  Continue working on Intro to Cells Worksheet.
  • Tues 10/14:  Take Biochem Test.  Finish Cell Worksheet.  Comparison between prokaryotic cells and eukaryotic cells.
  • Thurs 10/16:  Begin Microscope Lab.  Make drawings of cork, elodea, and onion cells.

The Week of 10/6-10/9


  • Mon 10/6:  Do tests for 4 food molecules.  Do a positive and negative test for each and record the results.
  • Tues 10/7:  Testing 4 different foods for all 4 of the food molecules.  Clean up.  Record data/observations from each person, including the initials of the person who took the data.  Remember that this data table needs to be your own.  No copying and pasting of others' information or sharing using google docs.
  • Thurs 10/9:  Questions on Food Lab?  Due Monday 10/13.  Hand out Review for Biochemistry test next Tuesday 10/14.  Go over concepts that have not yet been covered (new syllabus material!!).  Start Cells!!
  • Enjoy your 3-day week-end!!
