Difference between arteries, veins, and capillaries. Complete Circulatory Worksheet and get it checked off. Quiz on Friday. Read 42.2 and 42.3.

Remember that you need to finish the "Joe Eats a Burger" data table for Mon 12/2 and you should have a research question and plan for data taking for the Populations Lab (see documents if you don't have it) by Wed 12/4. Also remember to get your Cadaver Field Trip form signed by 12/4.

The Week of 11/18-11/22 (Digestion Notes have been added)
SPARK Lecture on Cell Membranes on Monday! Quiz on the Digestive System on Friday.
- Mon 11/18: Hand out Cadaver Lab Field Trip form. Please get signed by Mon 12/2. Introduction to the Digestive System. Parts of the system. What happens to food as it goes through. Color diagram of digestive system. Start reading Chapter 41.
- Wed 11/20: More on digestive system, including the function of enzymes. Start on villi. Finish coloring digestive system and complete back of worksheet using computers.
- Fri 11/22: Quiz on digestive system. Be able to label the structures in a diagram and be able to describe what happens to food as it passes through, using correct terminology. Finish the structure and function of villi and microvilli.
Have a relaxing week off! You can get ahead by starting to read Chapter 42 on the circulatory system. You can also get going on an extra credit book if you would like. Check the book list and instructions under "Extra Credit Opportunities".

- Monday 11/4: SPARK Lecture on Sensing Sound today at 3:30 in 169.
- Tues 11/5: Dichotomous Key due for 6th (Thursday for 7th period). Exchange keys. Questions on Molecular Evidence WS? Finish and turn in. Go to Computer Lab to do on-line Cladogram Activity. Hand out Evolution Review.
- Thur 11/7: Deadline for any late work for the quarter. Finish on-line Cladogram activity. Start going over Evolution Review. Test next Wed and Thursday.
- Friday 11/8: Teacher Work Day. No School. SPARK write up can be turned in using turnitin.com through today.
- Mon 11/11: Veteran's Day. No School!!

The Week of 10/28-11/1
- Mon 10/28: Introduce Classification. Dichotomous Key activity with fish, done in pairs. Then, as a pair, you should make your own dichotomous key to organize 10 objects of your choice. They can be animals, songs, books, characters, people, etc.
- Wed 10/30: Last Beak quiz (Chapters 10-12). Lab identifying organisms from 6 different invertebrate phyla. Introduce cladograms.
- Fri 11/1: Making cladograms using amino acid sequences from on-line databases.

The Week of 10/21-10/25
There is a SPARK lecture on Monday 10/21. The speaker is an engineer from Intel. You may get extra credit for going to one SPARK lecture per month, although remember that there is a limit on extra credit of 5% of the quarter grade.
- Mon 10/21: Turn in Speciation Worksheet. Questions on Hardy-Weinberg Packet? Turn in today or Wednesday. Overview of human evolution. Radiometric dating. Problems with the fossil record. Humans as mammals and primates. Cultural evolution versus biological evolution. Read 25.2.
- Wed 10/23: Beak of the Finch quiz on Chapters 7-9. Working with Hominid skull replicas. Take careful measurements of different aspects of each of the skulls. Read 34.7 and 34.8.
- Fri 10/25: Phylogeny of the Hominid skulls. Complete Skulls hand-out and turn in. Changes in diet and changes in brain size of humans. Last Beak quiz (Chapters 10-12) on Wed 10/30.
Heads up! We will be going on a Field Trip on December 9th to a Legacy Emmanuel facility where we will view a preserved human cadaver to learn about human anatomy.
