Thanksgiving Week! 11/24-11/26

• Mon 11/24:  Any more questions on Cell Review?  Remember that the completed Review with outlined answers and hand-drawn diagrams for the 3 items that require drawings is due BEFORE the test tomorrow.  Start Cellular Respiration (start hand-out)
• Tues 11/25:  Turn in Cell Review.  Take Cell Test.  Work on Cellular Respiration worksheet until everyone is done with the test.

• Thurs 11/13:  Turn in Agar Cubes/Cell Surface Area Lab.  Observe plasmolysis in onion skin.  Data analysis assignment:  Diffusion and Proteins in Membranes.  Do in class and turn in.  Hand out Review Sheet for Cell and Membrane Test next Thursday 11/20.  Snow Day!!
• Mon 11/17:  Turn in Agar Cubes/Cell Surface Area Lab.  Observe plasmolysis in onion skin.  
• Tues 11/18:  Data Analysis Assignment with plasma membrane models.  Complete and Turn in.  Hand out Cell Review for Test next Tues 11/25 and start working on it.

Instructions for Agar Cube Lab, due Thursday, November 13, 2014

• Neat data table with units and uncertainty

• Sample calculation of each type, showing work!  Surface area, volume, surface area to volume ratio, volume penetrated by NaOH, Portion of cube penetrated by NaOH

• Write a conclusion (see step 11 on lab)

• Staple all parts together and turn in on Thurs 11/13

The Weeks of 11/3-11/14

There is a SPARK lecture Monday 11/3 at 3:30 in 169.  Go to learn or go for extra credit.  Limit of 1 SPARK lecture per quarter.  The quarter ends on Friday.  The late work for Extra Credit and Late Work is Thursday 11/6 by 3:30 pm.

• Mon 11/3:  Membrane proteins and role of cholesterol.  Extra Credit Opportunities.  
• Tues 11/4:  Osmosis/Diffusion Lab.  Osmosis with onion cells.  Turn in Lab Hand-Out when finished.
• Thurs 11/6:  Deadline for Late Work and Extra Credit.  Agar Cubes Lab.  The affect of Surface Area to Volume ratio on absorption in agar cubes.  Lab (data table, calculations, and conclusion) due next Thursday 11/13.
• Mon and Tues 11/10-11/11:  No School!  Teacher grading day and Veterans Day.
• Thurs 11/13:  Turn in Agar Cubes Lab.  Onion skin plasmolysis and Data Analysis of Diffusion of Proteins in Membranes (due Mon 11/17).
